Privacy Policy
How Beer Study Buddy handles visitor and member information.
Beer Study Buddy collects only the information needed to run study tools, keep accounts working, improve site quality, respond to support requests, and support advertising when ads are enabled.
Information we collect
Visitors can browse the public study pages without creating an account. When you use the site, Beer Study Buddy may store basic technical information such as page visits, requested paths, timestamps, and session cookies so the app can work reliably and understand which study areas need improvement.
If you sign in with Slack, the app receives profile information made available through Slack OpenID Connect, such as your Slack user ID, name, display name, profile image, email address, team ID, and sign-in timestamps. Beer Study Buddy also stores study preferences, quiz attempts, answer history, category performance, and aggregate progress metrics connected to your account.
How we use information
We use collected information to provide sign-in, remember study preferences, show progress, detect weak study areas, operate the site, respond to support requests, and improve public content. Administrative traffic reports use aggregate page counters and are intended to guide content quality decisions.
We do not sell member profile information or study history. We do not publish individual study performance without permission.
Cookies and advertising
Beer Study Buddy uses first-party cookies for sessions and preferences. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to Beer Study Buddy or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to visitors based on visits to Beer Study Buddy and other sites on the Internet. Google and its partners may also use cookies to measure ad performance, limit repeated ads, detect invalid traffic, and improve ad quality.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also learn about third-party advertising choices at aboutads.info and through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
Third-party services
Beer Study Buddy relies on Google and Slack for sign-in, Slack for community access, Railway for hosting infrastructure, PostgreSQL for application data, and Google AdSense for advertising when enabled. If third-party ad vendors or ad networks serve ads on Beer Study Buddy, those vendors may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies and may offer their own opt-out choices.
Links to BJCP, Cicerone®, Brewers Association, Reddit, X, and other study resources open third-party websites governed by their own policies.
Your choices
You can browse public study pages without signing in. You can sign out at any time, leave the Slack community through Slack, use browser controls to block or delete cookies, opt out of personalized ads through the links above, and contact us to ask about your Beer Study Buddy account data.
For privacy or data questions, email Team@BeerStudyBuddy.com.

This policy may be updated as Beer Study Buddy adds features, changes hosting or advertising services, or adjusts legal and privacy practices. The current version is effective May 25, 2026.
